Nepali Citizenship Certificate by Descent

Duration (English)

On the very day, upon the submission of complete required documents.

Documents

  1. Application Form: Schedule-1 form, recently filled, certified (recommended) by the concerned Ward Chairperson, along with a recent passport-sized photograph showing the full face and both ears.
  2. Parental/Family Citizenship: Citizenship certificates of the father and mother. If unavailable, the citizenship certificate of an elder brother or a relative within three generations whose lineage is verifiable (वंशज खुल्ने), along with proof of relationship (Naata Pramanit).

  3. Photographs: Two copies of a recent passport-sized photograph showing the full face and both ears.

  4. Proof of Date of Birth: Birth registration certificate, educational certificate showing the date of birth, and the minor identity card (if issued).

  5. Verification: Verification by the father, mother, or a person whose citizenship matches (with the lineage). If unavailable, verification along with proof of relationship with an elder brother, younger brother, or a close relative within three generations.

  6. For Married Women: Marriage registration certificate, citizenship certificate of the husband, and the citizenship certificate of the father, mother, or brothers from the maternal (Maiti) side showing the verifiable lineage.

  7. For Migrants: Migration certificate (Wasaai Saraai Praman Patra), proof of land ownership (Jagga Dhani Praman Purja) / house completion certificate / tax payment receipt. For those migrating from other districts, documentation of records from the concerned District Administration Office/Area Administration Office is also required.

  8. For Government Employees' Families: Recommendation letter from the concerned office and a photocopy of the employee's ID card.

  9. For Foreign-born Individuals: Certificate of birth from the concerned foreign country.

  10. Verification Requirement: If required for verification, a police and local level (Local Body) verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka) may be necessary.

Note: Original documents must be attached.



Procedures

  1. Get a Token: Take a token by clicking the "Citizenship" button on the token machine.

  2. Get Endorsement (Tok Lagaune): Submit the token and all necessary documents at Counter No. 1 (Window No. 1 (101)) to the Administrative Officer for endorsement (initial approval/signature).

  3. Document Submission: Submit the endorsed documents at either Window No. 2 (102) or Window No. 3 (103).

  4. Printing & Biometrics: After submission, proceed to Window No. 4 in the Computer Room. Once the certificate is printed, provide two photographs. Then, affix your thumbprint on the certificate and the office's record file. Also, ensure the verification (Sanakhat) of the person who verifies (Sanakhat Garaune Vyakti) on Schedule-1.

  5. Collection: After the Administrative Officer signs and stamps the certificate, collect the certificate from Counter No. 1 (Window No. 1).
