Nepali Citizenship Certificate by Descent |

Application Form: Schedule-1 form, recently filled, certified (recommended) by the concerned Ward Chairperson, along with a recent passport-sized photograph showing the full face and both ears. Parental/Family Citizenship: Citizenship certificates of the father and mother. If unavailable, the citizenship certificate of an elder brother or a relative within three generations whose lineage is verifiable (वंशज खुल्ने), along with proof of relationship (Naata Pramanit). Photographs: Two copies of a recent passport-sized photograph showing the full face and both ears. Proof of Date of Birth: Birth registration certificate, educational certificate showing the date of birth, and the minor identity card (if issued). Verification: Verification by the father, mother, or a person whose citizenship matches (with the lineage). If unavailable, verification along with proof of relationship with an elder brother, younger brother, or a close relative within three generations. For Married Women: Marriage registration certificate, citizenship certificate of the husband, and the citizenship certificate of the father, mother, or brothers from the maternal (Maiti) side showing the verifiable lineage. For Migrants: Migration certificate (Wasaai Saraai Praman Patra), proof of land ownership (Jagga Dhani Praman Purja) / house completion certificate / tax payment receipt. For those migrating from other districts, documentation of records from the concerned District Administration Office/Area Administration Office is also required. For Government Employees' Families: Recommendation letter from the concerned office and a photocopy of the employee's ID card. For Foreign-born Individuals: Certificate of birth from the concerned foreign country. Verification Requirement: If required for verification, a police and local level (Local Body) verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka) may be necessary. Note: Original documents must be attached. |

Acquired Citizenship Certificate through Marriage |

Recommendation from the concerned Ward Office on A4 size Nepali paper, filling Schedule-7, certified by the Ward Chairperson with a recent passport-sized photograph. Citizenship certificates of the father and mother, indicating their country of origin/identity. Original marriage registration certificate and affidavit (Sapath Patra). Proof of identity of the concerned country and documentation/proof of initiating the process to relinquish foreign citizenship. The husband who verifies the application (Sanakhat) and his original Nepali Citizenship Certificate. If necessary for verification, a police and local level (Local Body) verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka). |

Acquisition of Citizenship by Descent in the Name of the Mother |

Application form filled with details as per Schedule-1 of the Regulations, with the photo also certified by the concerned Ward Chairperson. Mother's Nepali Citizenship Certificate. Birth Registration Certificate and Educational Qualification Certificate. Recommendation and Verification Report (Sarjamin Muchulka) issued by the concerned local level, stating the place of birth, relationship with the mother, that the applicant was born in Nepal and has been residing in Nepal, and that the identity of the father could not be ascertained. Two copies of a recent passport-sized photograph showing the full face and both ears. Verification (Sanakhat) by the mother. Self-declaration (Swaghoshana) as per Schedule 4 (a) and 4 (b) of the Regulations. If the mother is deceased, the death registration certificate. If the mother is of unsound mind (not in her right senses), a recommendation from an approved physician. Note: Original documents must be attached. |

Acquisition of Citizenship for Individuals Whose Parental Identity is Unascertained (Unknown Maternity and Paternity) |

Application Form: Application form filled with details as per Schedule-1 of the Regulations, with the photo also certified by the concerned Ward Chairperson. Institutional Recommendation: If raised in a Government-recognized institution like a child welfare home (Baal Mandir), orphanage (Anathalaya), etc., a recommendation letter from that institution, along with verification (Sanakhat) by the head of the institution, and a recommendation and verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka) prepared by the concerned local level based on this. Legal Guardian's Verification: If raised by a legal guardian, a verification (Sanakhat) by that guardian, their Citizenship Certificate, and a recommendation and verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka) from the concerned local level. Individual Caregiver's Verification: If raised by a specific individual, the Nepali Citizenship Certificate and verification (Sanakhat) of that caregiver, along with a recommendation and verification report (Sarjamin Muchulka) from the concerned local level confirming the same details. Parents' Citizenship: Nepali Citizenship Certificates of both the father and the mother (Birth-Based Citizens). Proof of Birth: Birth Registration Certificate of the applicant. Local Recommendation: A recommendation letter from the concerned local level confirming the applicant's place of birth and lineage (Naata). Educational Proof: Educational Qualification Certificate. Migration Proof (If Applicable): Migration Registration Certificate (Wasaai Saraai Darta Praman Patra) if applying for citizenship after changing the address/residence.
